Hi and thank you for your interest in my work. My name is Noam and I am a political scientist working on the nexus of legislative politics and climate change. My future goal is to provide data-driven solutions to real-world problems. Currently, I am a Doctoral Researcher at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and a Graduate Student at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Social and Behavioral Sciences (CDSS). Previously, I was also a visiting researcher at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona.
My research interests include, among other topics, climate action, legislative behavior, political elites, and computational social science. In my dissertation, I provide insights into the variables that determine political elites' engagement with climate action. To that end, I leverage multiple forms of data, i.e., survey data as well as various sources of text-as-data such as parliamentary speeches and party manifestos. I apply computational social science and causal inference methods to provide empirically rooted insights into complex social phenomena.
In my free time, I love traveling and practicing a variety of sports, with a special focus on martial arts. A few years ago I visited a trial class in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and instantly fell in love with the sport. Today, I train multiple times a week and compete in local tournaments. BJJ helps me to maintain a healthy work-life balance and I am always happy to chat about the newest developments in the community.
Again, thank you for your interest, and feel free to contact me with any inquiry you might have.
